I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940, and served unti1 1948, went in the Navel Reserve from 1948 to 1953. My first duty station was Cavite Navy Yard, P.I., served on small craft and Destroyers, until 1942. I was sent to Brisbane Australia to commission U.S.S. Villa Lobos AO 145-{IXI45) 1944 was transferred to LST 903 then to USS Sibley A.P.A. 206. -Then Stateside--1946 to Pacific Reserve Fleet, NSD Stockton, Ca. 1947 transferred to China Station, U.S.S. Repose A.H.16. Finished cruise, reenlisted 1949 to 1953 U.S.N.R. Naval Section Base, San Pedro, Ca. My Awards, and ribbons are -American Defense- American Theater-Asiatic Pacific with 7 Battlestars-Philippine Defense- Philippine Liberation-Philippine Independence-occupation Japan, China-Combat Action Ribbon-Good Conduct, 2 Service Stars- Victory Medal-China Service. I was appointed Chief Boatswain Mate U.S.N. Acting Appointment Sept. 2, 1943. My age was 20 years 2 months. I was appointed Chief Boatswain Mate Permanent Appointment June 2,1944. One of the youngest Chiefs, Appointed at that time. I am a Life Member of the National Chief Petty Officers Association-member #2186L I'm a Life Member of VFW Post 1622, Lomita,Ca. I'm a Mason, and Past Master of Los Angeles Harbor Lodge #332. I'm also a member of Angels Gate #198 F.&A.M. Lomita, Ca. I'm a former member of IL WU Local 13, and retired member of IL WU Foremen Local 94, Wilmington, Ca. Calm Seas and Smooth Sailing to all you Chiefs.
