Comments: I spent 12 years active Naval service. During that time, I was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 9 years and 9 months. While I thought I was really special making E7 in such a short time, I realized later that I was promoted because of the sacrifices of many enginemen who served in Vietnam. After leaving the regular Navy, I joined the Naval Reserve where I served an additional 18 years. Most of the time I spent in the USNR was aboard repair facilities. My last 10 years were attached to the Shore Intermediate Maintanance Acivity (SIMA) in Newport, RI. When I was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer, I was immediately assigned the position of Command Master Chief. In this position, I was the Senior enlisted over 10 divisons working out of SIMA, Newport.

Comments: To all my fellow CPOs, thanks for the opportunity to connect and the opportunity to ask questions and (possibly) answer questions that might be asked of me. I spent 10 years on active duty (1967-1977) with my final duty station being NATTC Millington. I immediately went to work for the Lockheed California Company in Burbank and waited almost 3 months before affiliating with the USN Reserves. I moved around quite a bit in my 14 years as a Reservist serving in units and ACDUTRA at Pt. Mugu, Brunswick, South Weymouth, Memphis, Jacksonville, before ending my career at NARCEN Columbus in 1992. At one time I was actually attached (administratively) to the USS LY Spear Augmentation Unit in Dayton and drilled at the Air Guard facility in Springfield.
