Comments: Hello my name is Chris. I recently was accepted onboard the USS Truxtun (DDG-103). I have been married for 3 years to my wife Mary. I joined the Navy February 2, 2004 out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Upon completion of boot camp, I went to HS-15 in Jacksonville, Florida. While there, I did one deployment onboard the USS John F. Kennedy and stood up the 2515th Navy Air Ambuance Detachment in Kuwait. I then went recruiting out of NRD Jacksonville, with my ultimate duty assignment of Navy Recruiting Station South Orlando. I left there in 2011 and checked into HSM-70. I am currently on my third deployment with them. I did the maiden voyage onboard the USS Gearge H. W. Bush, NATO operations onboard the USS Haliburton, and currently on the USS Truxtun.

Comments: OK, so I'm an Old Goat! Well so be it...and proud of it! I was one of those who never had to work a day as an Aerographer's Mate because I ABSOLUTELY LOVED MY JOB!! My going to work was a joy. Like so many of my shipmates, I took great pride in a what we could do, and what we did. Many of us were true professionals (as opposed to those who were just going through the motions). As I began to intermingle with other shipmates aboard practically every type floating navy platform, I saw that same level of professionalism in the other rates: Men who loved their jobs, and took great personal pride in doing their jobs right the first time and tutoring/preparing others to follow his lead. My hope: That the Goat Locker is the finest collection of True Professionals in the Fleet! Go Navy!!

BMC Gerald T. Palmer USS Newport Deck Dept LCPO who turned a young BM3-2 into a better leader, and forced me to find motivation in myself. EODC Jim Ryan, NR EODTECHDIV LCPO who taught me how to be a successful FCPO, and started my mentorship for Chief. PSCS Dara Suon, who showed me how to be a leader, as well as how to improve my management skills, YNC Kay Carter and MMC Kevin Cruz, who proceeded me and paved the way for my acceptance into the greatest organization and family that exists in the know universe! Most importantly, I thank my wife of 25 years (our 25th anniversary was 1 week before pinning, talk about managing priorities!) who helped a young E-3 pull his head out of his ass, be a man, and who has walked this journey with me, suffered hardship, separation, and again, words I can't even think of, and stood by me through it all. She was that a part of me was missing when, 10 years after leaving active duty, talked ME into joining the Navy Reserve. I have disproved the old adage 'Never Again Volunteer Yourself', and have have truly learned the values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. In parting, I will only add that I have been in the Navy ALL me bloomin' life! Me mudder was a mermaid, me fadder was King Neptune! Seaweed and barnicles are me clothes, every tooth in me head is a marlinspike! Every hair on me head is hemp (which this is none) every bone in me body a spar! And when I spits, I spits TAR! Comments: I have been retired from the Navy since Feb.2001, I can honestly say looking back at my career it made me the man I'am today, it was an experince that only fellow sailors can understand. I have been working in the cilvilian community and it has been an eye opener. they very much lack teamwork and discipline, it a wonder how the get things done. so much for that. I would like to thank my fellow Chief for all there support and mentoring over the years, I hope to see some of the Chief i have worked with in the past. Have a great Navy day.
