Comments: I just stumbled upon this great website while searching for the USS Harper's Ferry, my Navy daughter's first ship. She is currently a CS1 stationed at NAS Whidby Island having recently completed a nearly 5 year tour on USS Ronald Reagan. The kid is up for her first CPO exam so I thought it would be appropriate to mention her and wish her the best of luck. I can't wait to welcome her into the most exclusive fraternity there is. I retired in 1992 after almost 21 years and miss a lot of activities since I'm "landlocked" in North Alabama. This website takes me back to the "good old days" and helps me recall things I've almost forgotten over time. I was honored that the USCG was so prominently featured and hope to find some more Coasties posted here. I plan to be a regular visitor in the future. Comments: Served aboard USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14) during the Vietnam War, made three WESTPAC's to that theater of operation. Discharged in 1967, but remained in the Naval Reserve serving in Salt Lake City, Utah until 1973, then affiliated with VA-303 in Alameda, CA. from 1973 until 1975. Transfered to VP-65 at Pt. Mugu, CA, in 1975 until 1979, then transfered to VP-60 at Glenview, IL in 1979, then transfered back to VP-65 in 1981. Served with VP-65 until retirement in 1993. Flew as aircrewman on Lockheed P-3 Orion's from 1978 until 1993. Married to Judith Paulson Mitchell, two children, and three step children. Grandparents to 12 grandchildren. Living in Las Vegas, NV.
