Comments: In November 2001, I signed this log and stated that my greatest wish was to join the goat locker as a chief and I finally did it in 2006. I was then blessed with the promotion to LTJG as an Industrial Hygiene Officer. It was not that I did not want to be a chief, but simply putting it, I just wanted to advance beyond my capabilities. Comments: I split half my 25+ years between enlisted Limited Duty Officer and enjoyed both equally, but I really enjoyed most was the returning to 3 commands as my division officer/dept head from when I was there before. I'm extremely glad that when I got my "Draft Notice" in 1964 I opted for the Navy vice Army - I just couldn't see myself in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo amongst the rocks Trees ! I LOVED "Pulling the Pickle (trigger)" as we called it and hearing the roar of that Terrier, SM-1 or SM-2 taking off ! I LOVED even more getting the report back the the shot was a "Skin to Skin" (Direct Hit.) It takes a special person to live the Navy life and another special Spouse to go along with it !

Comments: What a site! I retired 9/30/81 from NavCamsEastPac and entered the civilian workforce. I went to work almost immediately with GTE (Everett, WA and Sacramento, CA)and retired, again, with them. I then went on to IT Management and Executive positions Directorwith Sierra Geophysics(Kirkland, WA), Egghead (Issaquah and Spokane, WA), Inland Northwest Health Services (Spokane, WA), XO Communications (Plano, TX)and finally retired, for good this time, from Atrium Companies (Dallas, TX). Comments: Enlisted in the Navy October 1955. Boot Camp in Bainbridge, MD. and then to first duty station at Leeward Point Gitmo, Cuba.The on to the USS Ranger (Plank owner),Norfolk,Va, next came NAOTS Chinteague, VA. Then off to the USS WASP at Boston, Massafter 4 1/2 years shore duty came at NATU Quonset Point. RI. then to VC-2 Det. Quonset then came the USS John F Kennedy (Plank owner),Norfolk, VaAdvanced to CPO in september1969 and got shore duty at the Naval Air Training Command, Norfolk Va.Was assign to Carrier Aviation Ordnance Safety Course. Also graduated from the CPO Academy December 1970. My last duty station was the USS Forrestal. I stood my last watch and was piped over the side 4 November 1974.I entered the Navy at the age of 17. And can say this was the best time on my life, the world was one hell of a place then. Again I can say I lived in the best time ever.
