From: West, Rick MCPON OPNAV, N00D [mailto:rickey.west@navy.mil] Sent: Friday, May 14, 2010 12:00 AM Subject: REVISED BOARD SCHEDULES AND ONE WEEK DELAY IN CPO RESULTS BLUF: Active CPO results will be released a week later, we will maintain 16 September for the pinning date. All, As I travel about I continue to be asked about selection boards and how the severe flooding in Millington will affect board dates and results. Today, PERS-8 provided the following revised start dates for CPO Boards: (Keep in mind there are many other boards being rescheduled) 24 May Reserve E7 Board Convenes 14 June Active E8 Board Reconvenes 6 Jul Active E7 Board Convenes For planning purposes and based on the revised dates for the boards, it is expected the CPO results will be released one week later than usual. Plan for that. Considering the circumstances that our Shipmates and families continue to face in Millington, a one week delay is credit to Millington leadership to ensure the best for the families in the recovery efforts while also remaining focused on restoring full power to the engine room that propels our personnel systems and processes that support and guide our great Navy around the globe. As you start preparing for adjustments, I ask that you also realize the impact to our Sailors and families in Millington and keep them in your thoughts and prayers. They require our full support as they deal with their own personal tragedy. Finally, I am extremely proud of the progress our Navy wide CPO mess has made during the past several years in training and preparing our new Chief Petty Officers through the CPO Induction process. Based on this progress and the quality of training that I have witnessed, I am confident we can absorb a one week delay and maintain course and speed for pinning our newest CPO's on September 16. This will also enable all of us to maintain currently scheduled events and locations for frocking ceremonies and Khaki Balls. Thank you for your support and understanding of this effort and HOOYAH to Naval Personnel Command for maintaining CPO Induction at the forefront of their planning. As always.....Anchor Up and have a Great Navy Day! Push this to our deckplate CMC's and CPO Messes. V/R MCPON West MCPON (SS/SW) R.D. West Office: 703-695-5592
