Dear CPO's, I am a Seacadet undergoing CPO indoctrination. A CPO has tasked me with a question. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction I would much appreciate that. The question is where did the term GQ come from, if you could point me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it. Thanks again. PO1 Hugh Mills

I fell of my couch watching PBS, (would'nt normally admit that), however, it was an episode about the Battle Ship Wisconsin, and out from my screen jumped BM1 Marshall on the Trenton, now the Master Chief of the Wisconsin. He always greeted us in the morning with, "It's a fine Navy Day, Haze Gray and Underway!!". And then Chief Buck would work our ASSES OFF!! God Bless the Navy and All the Chiefs.

I'm looking for Seabees who served with detachment, “Hotel” from 1960 - 1962. The detachment was commanded by Lieutenant Charles L Neugent CEC USN and operated, with about twenty eight men, out of Davisville Rhode Island for two years. All personnel were hand picked from various battalions, were skilled in at least two trades, and all were cleared for Top Secret. And because of the nature of our work and the high security classification assigned, we operated in secret and were virtually unknown. We traveled extensively within that short two year period and performed many difficult assignments. Assignments that took us to Puerto Rico, Kenitra, Morocco, San Salvadore, Bermuda, Key West, West Palm Beach and Jacksonville Florida, Earle, New Jersey, Turkey, Cuba and Nantucket Rhode Island.

Dear All, I am enquiring about Deepfreezes 1961 and 1962 and trying to find sailor who was involved. I know he was on an American vessel which visited Port Lyttleton, New Zealand in November and/or December 1960 and returned to Port Lyttleton about the same time in 1961. I have not had any success with enquiries on the Icebreakers. I am now turning my enquiries towards any other ships in exercises around that time, such as the Arneb. I was wondering if you may have kept a cruise book for the 1961 and 1962 years, and perhaps even a crew list. Other than the Icebreakers, were there any other ships you are aware of. I have found it had obtaining information on the operational side of the exercises. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Greg Sundborn (aka Gregan Mayell).

Maintained all classified material including top secret aboard Butte. I was stationed on Butte for one year although I never got a chance to go to sea, which to this day I regret. I did however get to go from Quincy to Boston Naval Ship Yards, Wow! When we moved I was stationed in CIC, no portholes, hell I didn't even know we were moving. Well to make a long story short, I got orders to COMNAVFORV headquarters in Vietnam working in Naval intelligence. I can't complain to much however, my first duty station was in Barbados,W.I. That was great duty. End of story. There is one thing someone might could help me with, I never got a ships hat from USS Butte, wondering if anyone could help me with this? Please contact me at my web site. Thanks.
