USS Shangrila (CVA 36) for 6 months and was transferred to Great Lakes where I pushed Boots for 3 1/2 years. Transferred to USS Current (ARS 22) where I made Chief and was initiated in Subic Bay, Phillipines in January 1960. My next duty station was USS Genessee (AOG 8) and I transferred to USS Ajax (AR 6) homeported in Sasebo, Japan. I was commissioned LDO ensign in November 1962 and served a tour as Bos'n in USS Montecello (LSD 35) then tours as 1st Lt. in Uss Markab (AR 23), USS Firedrade (AE 14). In between I did a short tour at PacResFlt in Mare Island and got the opportunity to establish and serve as First Lieutenant of the Naval Inshore Operations Center, Mare Island helping train PBR and Riverine Warfare Crews for Vietnam. I finally (after my Firedrake tour) spent 2 1/2 years as Waterfront Officer at the US Naval Weapons Station, Concord, California. I retired from there in October 1973 and moved here to northern California. |

WHILE THERE I MARRIED A SCOTTISH LASS(FORMERLY SUSAN O'HAGAN OF PORT GLASGOW, SCOTLAND) AND WE XFERRED TO PANAMA CITY, FLA (NCSC) WHERE I HAD THE GREAT HONOR OF BEING INITIATED TO CHIEF IN '85. I DID TOURS ON USS NICHOLSON(DD-982), SPCC, USS HUNLEY(AGAIN) USS L.Y.SPEAR WHERE I WAS SELECTED FOR THE CMC PROGRAM, AND NOW HERE AT NAS MERIDIAN, MS(HEAVEN).
