Oh before I go a little story, I know these peanut butter uniforms have been out for a while but I'm still not use to them. I was in medical the other day and the guy standing behind the counter said may I help you I told him why I was there and he said the clerk will be right back to help you. He was wearing a smock so I didn't know what rank he was until he stepped away from the counter and I saw the pants. Well still didn't know his rank but knew he was E6 or below. Anyway take care.

Comments: I enjoyed 21 years of my life in the navy and I will always remain a "Chief Boatswains-mate". Although I will be retired 43 years come Jan. 5th 2011 the navy is in my blood and will remain there as long as I live and thereafter. I was born under the "Rocks and Shoals navy" and am still looking for the navy to refer to the years back to instill a more proficient leadership as it was in my time. Times have changed since I retired and I thank God I did retire. I'm proud of my 5 gold hash-marks that I earned and still have my dress blues hanging in the Closet. I know it is unusual for a Boatswains-mate to have 20 years good conduct but this one did and am proud of every day I served in My navy. My hat is off to all of you on active duty and those retired. Comments: Just dropped in to see if any old shipmates logged in. I don't understand why a new chief would want to wear the same uniform as an E=E-6. Besides that, the new collar devices on the working uniform is wrong. The letters USN are gold and they should be silver. It seems the mess is divided between sea and shore duty.

Comments: My 23 years in the BEST service organization in the world was the highlight of my life and I am proud that my eldest son has followed in my footsteps. Although he outranks me (he is a MACS) in the military he still seeks my guidance in matters of the service and life. He and I share one concern and that is the military is moving toward one uniform for all and I am hoping the Chiefs can put and end to that. Many of my counterparts in other branches of the military are in awe of the navy tradition of changing uniforms entirely upon making chief. I have now been retired for almost as long as I was active duty but I still have that sense of pride when someone says "Hi Chief".
