Took Boot at Great Lakes NTS,Commissioned USS Soubarrisen AO93 in 1945 Served out the war on it and decommissioned it in Mobile River and joined the reserve and served till I retired. Made E7 in 1963 and was decommissioned in 1982 and am enjoying the good life.

Remeber when walking down the pier, go out of your way to say hello to your fellow chief. If he/she does not welcome your greeting he/she must be having a bad day. When you greet that same chief days/weeks later and he/she still does not welcome your greeting, you should wonder if he/she was initiated properly. Do not be one of those chief's always say "hello".

WWII & Merchant Marine Vessels: I'm looking for anyone who may have been on the SS Florida - SS William Leavitt - and SS Park Benjamin: My daddy was a member of the Navy Armed Guard during WWII - these are the Merchant ships that he was on -- I've been working on family ancestry and would like to find anyone who might have known him -- His name was James Lee Chavis - He passed way in Oct of 1986 - i've done a great deal of reseach into the Armed Guard in general but would like to communicate with someone who was on these vessels to find out where it went - I know it was on the Murmansk runs - one of the vessels may have carried troops for the D-Day invasion -- anyone out there that may have any knowledge of these vessels - I sure would appreciate communcating with you Thanks
